BAMBII ~ DJ & producer
The new and improved Summer Tramp lineup recently dropped, and my friend Hannah was hyping up headliner BAMBII. Naturally, I had to immediately drop everything and do a deep dive, as is my Legal Duty™️ in the pursuit of Learning Everything About Niche Topics. Am I late to the party? Yes. Am I obsessed? Also yes. Fusing infectious electronic beats with R&B influences, it’s genre-defying music that makes me want to shake my non-existent booty.
In her essay for Dazed, BAMBII reflects on her experiences navigating a stratified electronic music scene, highlighting the challenges she faced as a Black woman in a male-dominated industry. She calls out the gender disparities and cultural appropriation in genres like techno and EDM, advocating for a queering of electronic music that embraces fluidity and creativity.
After mourning the loss of venues during the pandemic, she emphasises the urgent need for the industry to evolve and focus on genuine innovation rather than clinging to outdated hierarchies and inequities. You can catch her set for Mixmag and listen to her on Soundcloud or Spotify.

Industry ~ TV series (3 Seasons)
If you’re still sleeping on Industry, eat some prunes, go to the toilet, and get your shit TOGETHER because the Season 3 finale just dropped, and you best believe screams were coming from my apartment. I can neither confirm nor deny whether said screams were coming from me or my cats. That episode took years off my life and I have zero regrets.
Let me just say this: nothing will prepare you for the onslaught of unhinged plot twists. It's chaotic, juicy, intense, messy and at times bleak as fuck — which, as of five seconds ago, I’ve decided is the elite formula to get me hooked on a TV show.
I saw it described somewhere as Succession meets Euphoria meets Gossip Girl. I think Industry was more entertaining than any of those shows but that might just be my hyperfixation talking. I still don’t grasp most of the finance bro jargon in the rapid-fire dialogue, but honestly, it doesn’t even matter because it’s just superb television.

All I Ever Wanted Was To Be Hot ~ book by Lucinda Price aka Froomes
Internet icon and CEO of silly’s memoir, All I Ever Wanted Was To Be Hot, offers a vulnerable and relatable exploration of our complex relationship with body image, fatphobia, and diet culture, all while weaving in nostalgic reflections of growing up in the 2000s.
Lucinda’s candid storytelling exposes the insecurities we all grapple with, highlighting the pressures to conform and the absurdity of striving to meet unrealistic beauty standards. She ruminates on everything from early attempts to emulate Victoria’s Secret models to Ozempic's chokehold on current beauty ideals.
Balancing vulnerability with humour takes a special kind of talent, but Froomes does it effortlessly.
